Healthcare Volunteer Associates Clinic located in Lakeway Plaza is open every Wednesday evening to provide primary healthcare to those in our community who have no other access to basic treatment. It receives significant financial support from our Lakeway Church Outreach Program and our church members fill two of the staff positions each week. The Clinic’s mission is carried out by a dedicated group of individuals from western Travis County who have come together to provide healthcare for people who have no other access to medical services. Many of the area’s workingmust choose between food for their families and medical care. The Clinic alleviates that choice.
The staff of the Healthcare Volunteer Associates Clinic is a unique medical community partnership with no one, including the Founders/Directors (Jerry & Judy Jones,) receiving any form of compensationthan the satisfaction of serving their community’s needy. Clinic services are thus provided exclusively by volunteers including physicians and dentists, nurses, medical and dental assistants, office staff and interpreters. Others kindly donate medications and related medical services.
Jerry Jones is grateful for The Lakeway Church providing the volunteers to fill the receptionist role and a medical forms clerk every week. This is a role for two volunteers that we have been filling from three Home Team Groups so that no one serves more than once every two months. If anyone is interested in joining the group of potential volunteers, please contact Tom Broyles at tbroyles@austin.rr.com or 261-8583 to receive the details of the volunteer duties and agreement to volunteer for your selected position on a date that works for you when that position is needed.
